Restricted and prohibited items

This page lists what may not be advertised on BUY.net.pk, and what may be advertised only under conditions. It covers ads, store pages, provider profiles and anything offered in chat. The list follows Pakistani law and our own safety standards. It cannot name every item, so we also remove anything that is illegal to sell, unsafe, or posted to deceive.

Prohibited: never allowed

Weapons and explosives

  • Firearms of any kind, ammunition, magazines, silencers and firearm parts.
  • Explosives, fireworks and firecrackers, detonators and bomb-making material.
  • Tasers, stun guns, pepper spray, brass knuckles, flick knives, swords and daggers sold as weapons.
  • Arms licences and offers to arrange one.

Kitchen knives, tools, sports equipment and toy guns that are clearly toys are allowed in their normal categories.

Drugs, alcohol and tobacco

  • Narcotics and controlled substances, including charas, heroin, ice, ecstasy and cannabis products, and equipment for making or using them.
  • Alcoholic drinks of any kind.
  • Cigarettes, cigars, naswar, gutka, shisha tobacco, vapes, e-cigarettes, pods and e-liquids. Because we cannot confirm a buyer's age, tobacco and vape products are not accepted from anyone.

Medicines and health products

  • Prescription medicines, injections, antibiotics, steroids, sedatives and controlled drugs.
  • Unregistered or expired medicines, abortion pills, and products that claim to cure serious disease.
  • Used or opened cosmetics, contact lenses without proper packaging, and breast milk or other body fluids.

Counterfeit and pirated goods

  • Fake branded goods described as "copy", "first copy", "master copy", "replica" or "AAA".
  • Pirated software, films, music, books and course material, cracked accounts and licence keys of unknown origin.
  • Devices or services made to bypass copyright protection, such as illegal TV streaming boxes and card sharing.

Stolen and tampered property

  • Anything stolen or found, or sold without the owner's permission.
  • Phones with a changed or blocked IMEI, and services that change, "patch" or unblock an IMEI.
  • Vehicles with tampered engine or chassis numbers, vehicles without documents sold as registered, and smuggled or non-custom-paid vehicles and goods.
  • Items with serial numbers removed.

Wildlife and endangered species

  • Wild animals and birds protected by law, including falcons, hawks, owls, partridges and other wild-caught birds, monkeys, bears, big cats, pangolins, turtles and tortoises.
  • Parts and products of protected animals: skins, fur, ivory, horns, shells, feathers and bile.
  • Traps, nets and poisons for catching wildlife.

Adult content and services

  • Pornography, sexual content and sex toys.
  • Escort, "massage" used as a cover, dating-for-money and any sexual service.
  • Any content that sexualises a child. We report this to the authorities and suspend the account immediately.

Identity documents, SIMs and accounts

  • CNICs, passports, driving licences, birth certificates, degrees, experience letters and any government document, real or fake.
  • Activated or pre-registered SIM cards, biometric verification devices used to issue SIMs for others, and SIM registration in someone else's name.
  • Bank accounts, mobile wallet accounts, ATM cards, and social media, gaming or marketplace accounts.
  • Personal data: phone number lists, customer databases and "leads".

Hazardous materials

  • Acids and industrial chemicals sold to the public, pesticides without a licence, mercury, asbestos and radioactive material.
  • Gas cylinders that are damaged, expired or illegally refilled, and unsafe CNG or LPG kits.
  • Laser pointers strong enough to cause injury.

Human body, organs and people

  • Human organs, blood, tissue, eggs, sperm and surrogacy arrangements.
  • Adoption or sale of children, forced or paid marriage arrangements, and any form of human trafficking or bonded labour.

Gambling and money schemes

  • Betting, casino, lottery, prize bond dealing and online gambling accounts or tips.
  • Pyramid, Ponzi and multi-level schemes in which income depends on recruiting others; "double your money" and guaranteed-profit investment offers.
  • Unlicensed lending, loan-app agents, currency exchange and hawala or hundi services.
  • Counterfeit currency and stamps.

Hacking and surveillance tools

  • Malware, phishing kits, account-cracking tools, SIM-cloning equipment and card skimmers.
  • Hidden cameras and spy devices sold for secretly recording people, phone-tapping services and mobile signal jammers.
  • Offers to hack or "recover" someone else's account, or to obtain call records and location data.

Recalled and unsafe products

  • Products recalled by the maker or banned by a regulator.
  • Expired food, baby formula and car safety seats past their expiry date.
  • Electrical goods with known safety defects.

Other prohibited content

  • Material that promotes hatred or violence against any religion, sect, ethnicity or group, and items linked to banned organisations.
  • Government-issued or subsidised goods not meant for resale, such as relief supplies and official uniforms and badges of the armed forces or police.
  • Exam papers, assignment-writing and services that impersonate a student or candidate.
  • Anything else that is illegal to sell in Pakistan.

Restricted: allowed with conditions

Animals and livestock

  • Domestic pets and farm animals may be advertised. Every ad in this category is reviewed by a person before it goes live.
  • The animal must be weaned and healthy. State the age, and show real photos of the animal itself.
  • No protected or wild species (see above), no animals sold for fighting, and no cruelty in photos or wording.
  • Sacrificial animals may be listed in the season. Transport over long distances is the buyer's and seller's responsibility.

Property

  • Only the owner, or an agent or developer with the owner's authority, may advertise a property. Every property ad is reviewed before it goes live.
  • The location, size and price must be accurate. Do not advertise plots in schemes that are not approved, or files without clearly saying they are files.
  • Token or booking money must never be requested before the buyer has seen the property and the documents.

Medical devices and equipment

  • Non-prescription equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, hospital beds, blood pressure monitors, glucometers and oxygen concentrators may be sold. State the condition honestly.
  • Oxygen cylinders must be within their test date. Devices that need a professional to fit or operate them must say so.
  • No implants, no used single-use items, and no medical claims that the device treats or cures a disease.

Jobs abroad and recruitment

  • Overseas employment may be advertised only by a licensed overseas employment promoter, with the licence number in the ad. We may ask for proof.
  • No fee may be asked for an interview, a visa "file" or a registration.
  • Visa consultancy must not promise a visa or a job.

Other items with conditions

  • Vehicles: state clearly if the vehicle is unregistered, on an open letter or has incomplete documents.
  • Mobile phones: the seller must state the PTA status honestly. Blocked or non-approved phones must be described as such.
  • Food: home-made and packaged food must be within its date and safely prepared.
  • Drones, walkie-talkies and satellite phones: only where their sale and use are lawful, and the buyer is responsible for any permission required.

What happens if a prohibited item is posted

  • The ad is rejected or removed, and any promotion bought for it is not refunded.
  • Repeated or serious breaches lead to suspension of the account and blocking of the phone number.
  • Where the item suggests a crime, such as weapons, drugs, stolen goods, wildlife trade or child exploitation, we may pass the details to the relevant authority and will answer lawful requests for information.
